Dick Gregory on Late Night with David Letterman (1984)

Stand up comedy is in many ways is an art form. Laughter and comedy have been used to educate and expose hypocrisy in American politics. Dick Gregory used his stand up talents in the name of civil and human rights. He was not afraid to discuss race relations or American politics to the audiences he performed to. Here is an appearance he made in 1984 on Late Night with David Letterman.  Dick Gregory reveals that he did run for president in 1968 and with his unique brand of humor what the first African American president would face. Dick Gregory points out in his stand up routine that there has been progress citing examples of Micheal Jackson’s domination of  popular music and the first African American Ms. America. Dick Gregory continued to remain active in various causes up until his passing in 2017.
