This is a video from 1991 featuring Barack Obama. At this time he was the editor of the Harvard Law Review . He would later go on to be the first African American President of the United States of America. The “Black History Minute” was a TBS public service announcement series educating the public about the history of African Americans. President Obama educates viewers about Charles Hamilton Houston. A skilled lawyer, he put his talents to dismantling Jim Crow laws. Houston served as Dean of the Howard University Law School and was NAACP Litigation Director. When this video was produced Barack Obama probably never though he would be doing something that broke a color barrier. His 2008 election victory owes much credit to the civil rights leaders, activists, and lawyers of the past who challenged racism and discrimination.
